报告内容简介:

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of fluid flow and transport has already become a very useful research tool to explore the details of complex flows such as those encountered in suspensions and porous media. In this presentation, I will present DNS work conducted in my research group, including simulation of single-phase flows and multiphase flows using the lattice Boltzmann (LB) method, and simulation of transport using random-walk particle tracking (RWPT) method. Using LB simulation as a tool, the correlation between porosity and permeability, two fundamental properties of rocks, is characterized. Fractures and vugs tend to change porosity-permeability relation in opposite directions. The effect of surface slip in tight rocks and the effect of inertia in fast flows through highly permeability media can also be studied using LB simulations. In the end, I will present examples of simulations of multiphase flows in porous media and in narrow fractures.
